How to Color Coordinate Jewelry with Your Outfit

July 10th, 2012 | Posted by HeinreichS in Diamond jewelry | gemstone jewelry

gemstone jewelryYou want to look good for any night out on the town with your friends.  Or you want to look good for an upcoming date.  Or, you want to look good in general and prove to yourself that you have style.  In any case, you can do this by color coordinating your outfit with any gemstone jewelry you might have.

First, you need to know what the primary colors are;  red, blue, and yellow.  Next up are the secondary colors (which you get from mixing two of the primary colors): purple, orange, and green.  From there you can begin to color coordinate your wardrobe and accessories.

First, you have to determine which color is the dominant color of your outfit.  It is easy to figure out with solids. But if you are wearing a patterned blouse or shirt, choose the color there seems to be more of, or is more apparent. If it seems equal, you can actually work with either color as the dominant one. Next, you have to find the complement of primary color; they are:

  • Red & green
  • Yellow & purple
  • Blue & orange

How do you use this information?   If you have a purple dress you like to wear – and good for you for pulling that one off! – you can wear a yellow diamond necklace or similar jewelry to contrast with it.

Use this information for the next time you head out and you will be the center of attention.
